"Interaktive Kulturen"
Doctoral Consortium
In the course of the conference “Interaktive Kulturen” a doctoral consortium for all tracks will be offered. It opens a platform for presentation of ongoing and recently completed dissertation projects, for getting comments from experts of all participating disciplines, and for discussion. Thus the individual dissertation projects can be facilitated and an opportunity for exchange between doctoral candidates is offered. Future Ph.D. students can get encouragement, ideas, and orientation for their own projects.
Organisers and responsible for the selection process of the doctoral consortium are
- Prof. Dr. Thomas Herrmann (Ruhr-Universität Bochum)
- Prof. Dr. H. Ulrich Hoppe (Universität Duisburg-Essen)
- Prof. Dr. Nicole Krämer (Universität Duisburg-Essen)
- Prof. Dr. Michael Koch (Universität der Bundeswehr München)
Participation/Application
Interested participants are currently working on a dissertation project in the thematic area of the conferences “Mensch und Computer” (including interaction design, usability, CSCW), or DeLFI (including learning and teaching with interactive media as well as CSCL) or in the area of “Entertainment Interface” or have recently completed such a dissertation. Interested persons apply until 28 June 2010 with a brief abstract of their dissertation project (motivation, research questions, solution, (interim) results) with a length of maximal four pages. A template can be found at [1], proposals can be submitted at [2].
Schedule
The doctoral consortium will be held as part of the conference “Interaktive Kulturen” on Wednesday, 15 September 2010, at the Duisburg campus of the University of Duisburg-Essen. In the course of the workshop the participants will (shortly) introduce their projects to each other. There will be time for discussion with the other participants and with domain experts from the involved disciplines.
